A Big Red Food Drive for Flood Victims, Homecoming, Sat. 3 to 6 pm,
Cornell University

Sponsored by the Public Service Center of Cornell University. Nonperishable food items, personal care products, cleaning products and school supplies will be collected during this drive.

Flood Response Activities

Catholic Charities' Tioga Outreach Center is located at 464 Broad Street, Waverly NY
( 607-565-7580) has been open since Monday and actively helping victims. Hours of operation are 9 AM -4 PM Monday through Thursday. Especially needed at this time are personal care products, cleaning products, small household appliances & housewares as well as school supplies for the children of affected families. Clothing donations are not needed at this time. Monetary donations accepted for flood related assistance at the Waverly office or at Catholic Charities 324 West Buffalo Street, Ithaca NY (607-272-5062). Catholic Charities is also a presence at an assistance center temporarily housed at the First Presbyterian Church located on Temple Street in Owego. Like much in this area, the church does not yet have utilities, and the center is operating from 9AM - 7PM or dark.
Catholic Charities Samaritan Center in Tompkins County is open for all - including flood victims - from 9-12 & 1-4 Tuesday through Friday.

 

 

Catholic Charities Announces New Executive Director

The CCTT Board of Directors has appointed Ms. Diane E. DeMuth to the agency's chief executive office effective November 7, 2011. Ms. DeMuth is currently the CEO and Executive Director for the AIM Independent Living Center, headquartered in Corning, New York.

The mission of Catholic Charities of Tompkins/Tioga (CCTT) is to help build communities that care for all people by reducing poverty, promoting healthy individual and family life. This is made possible by collaborating with our community’s civic and governmental agencies and faith communities-Catholic and non-Catholic, advocating for social justice.

Ms. DeMuth earned Bachelor of Arts degrees from both Richmond College, Staten Island, N.Y. and from City University of New York. She also earned a Master of Science degree in Industrial & Labor Relations, jointly from Baruch College and Cornell University.
She has devoted her entire professional career to human services, working with and leading non-profit organizations.

Ms. DeMuth, an Ithaca resident, will oversee the operations of professional staff and volunteers at both the headquarters office at 324 W. Buffalo Street, Ithaca and at 464 Broad Street, Waverly.
