Our Tompkins County Programs
Samaritan Center of Tompkins County: We provide short-term assistance to families and individuals in immediate financial crisis, and use a strengths-based approach to look at long-term solutions for the future.
Immigrant Services: We provide one-to-one support, mentoring and guidance to local immigrants, refugees and their families who live and/or work in Tompkins County. All local immigrants and refugees are eligible for support, not just those who are new to the community.
Family Empowerment: Family Empowerment is a partnership/mentorship service composed of Parent Partnerships and Community Connections. Both programs aim to help families who have children that are at risk of out-of-home placement make decisions that affect their families.
Justice & Peace Ministry: Through its Justice and Peace program, Catholic Charities brings together people from all religious backgrounds to work together for public policies that benefit the poorest among us. We organize education and advocacy efforts to promote human dignity, and offer special assistance to Catholic faith communities in responding to the social demands of the Gospel.
Our Tioga County Programs
Tioga Outreach Center: We offer residents of Tioga County short-term financial assistance for immediate crises, and long-term support and guidance by providing advocacy, referrals to entitlement programs, and one-to-one support.
Flood Relief Program: When water from the Susquehanna River flooded Tioga County in June 2006, Tioga Outreach Center provided flood victims with gift cards and donations of clothing and supplies, and housing assistance. Tioga Outreach Center also coordinated with other volunteer groups to help families rebuild their homes.
Wheels for Work: A program designed to help low-income families obtain reliable transportation needed to maintain employment.
YES Mentoring Program: A pilot program in partnership with the Newark Valley School District and families, to help children succeed by offering mentoring in school work, life skills, and employment.
