Legal Services

Through our program, individuals and families that are eligible for immigration benefits, but who cannot afford private attorneys, are provided with low-cost immigration counseling and representation.  Catholic Charities is the only non-profit agency in Tompkins County recognized by the Board of Immigration Appeal (BIA) and US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to provide legal immigration services to clients.  The ISP director is a BIA accredited representative and can provide legal advocacy to clients in immigration matters before the USCIS.

Any immigrant is eligible to receive an immigration consultation, regardless of status, documentation, or national origin. Fees for services are based on ability to pay. In order to qualify for a reduced rate, we require proof of income. We are an affiliate of Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC) and can assist with various applications and petitions, which include:

  • Address Change
  • Adjustment of status (green card) applications
  • Applications for Temporary Protected Status
  • Certificate of Citizenship
  • Citizenship Services
  • Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA)
